the irony of it all

If I was to tell you that I have been waiting for this, it would be a gross understatement. Quite honestly the moment I heard of a new coach for El Tri on the horizon, I knew it would only be time for the new leader to come to the old leader. I should first say that I never agreed with the Federación Mexicana de Fútbol Asociación decision of letting go of Mr. Lavolpe and while I sincerely appreciate him leading the Rayados, I feel it was a brutal error for the national team.
Now as time goes by and as Monterrey builds its own developmental academy, with him in charge I am fearful that the El Tri will not be able to keep up with the leadership that he provides on the club level. Maybe I am stepping outside the boundary of my commentary of Monterrey Futbol but I feel very strongly of the level of the game in México and want to see the game grow and flourish.
Equally stated I don’t want this to appear even slightly condemning of Sven-Göran Eriksson as I have enormous respect for him. In-fact the greatest irony of both of these mens career as coaches in the international scene is that they lost their positions and were subsequently replaced by men who were ceremoniously replaced extremely quickly.
During their meeting he further strongly urged Mr. Eriksson to consider selecting both Jonathan Orozco and Diego Ordaz for El Tri. That aside, Mr. Lavolpe provided important insight into understanding the heart and soul of the Mexican player, areas to be aware-of as it relates to confidence and on motivation and the how to take a time-sensitive approach to evaluating players throughout the country. Strategic advice from a great leader of El Tri.
