Tecos match review
By: j | August 17th, 2008The Tecos match can be summarized simply as an embarrassing display by under-performing players who lacked professionalism and discipline. Losing a match is one thing and there is no shame in losing to a team that is performs better but when you cannot conduct yourself accordingly on the pitch you embarrass the club whose crest you wear, the noble fans who support you and teammates who put their heart and soul into the game. Monterrey performed precisely as that, as they lost 4-2 to the Tecos. I mean no discredit to the Tecos performance as they played brilliantly and represented their club with honour and integrity.
The match got off to a fast started as warned, Robert De Pinho tasted a bit of payback at the four minute mark to give Tecos a 1-0 lead. The match went back and forth with Jared Borgetti bringing the match even at the thirty-first minute. After the break Monterrey took the lead with Arturo Alvarado at the fifty-ninth minute and then, the wheels feel off.
If the match was to end then, regardless of the score, it would be remembered for the end to end action and the passion of the game. However the match didn’t end there and within minutes Felipe Baloy received his second yellow card, for a horribly unprofessional swipe tackle that has no place at this level. Some members of defensive back-line reacted like a sulking child, cared little of defending and gave-up. The Tecos seized the opportunity and scored at will. During the next seven minutes, in which the Tecos scored three times to take the lead 4-2, Diego Ordaz followed Felipe Baloy with the same conduct and was expelled with his second yellow card.
That was a disgusting display by both of them. One look on Humberto Suazo’s face walking off the pitch said it all, as if he seemed to wonder if this a place where he should be playing. For every child that came to the match, hopefully they’ll forget Ordaz and Baloy’s behaviour and someone in their lives will teach them the game is played with honour and integrity. As much as they’ll be missed in next weeks lineup, they don’t deserve the right after to step on the pitch. If my comments upset you, please understand I respect this sport, the people of Monterrey and the Rayados and care little of those who callously treat it without similar respect.
Next week is Cruz Azul. Show my discipline and pride.

Good recap and analysis.
I watched a little of this game, and have to say that when Pony Ruiz is playing, I think his side is gonna win.
