second leg tonight!

By: j | May 17th, 2008

With Monterrey holding the decided advantage of a three goal lead after the first leg, tonight’s affair will pose some interesting tactical situations for Ricardo Lavolpe, particularly as you consider Humberto Suazo will be out because of the injury he sustained in the first match. Chupete has (obviously) been the major goal-scorer for the Rayados so it remains to be seen whether the mid-field is stacked to protect the goal advantage or if Robert de Pinho plays up-front with Jared Borgetti using the similar attacking style that got them where they are. Additionally, Walter Erviti is hobbled and it remains to be seen whether he will play.

In Monterrey’s advantage will be that both Chivas’ Patricio Araujo and Ramón Morales are suspended for the match. Along with the attacking style that Chivas must play to make up for the goal disadvantage, these absences will make them more susceptible for counter-attacks.

I’ll be posting match updates as they happen tonight.
