Rayados defeat San Luis 1-0 in lifeless friendly
By: j | January 11th, 2009
With VÃctor Manuel Vucetich in charge for Monterrey for the first time, they defeated San Luis in a friendly best described of being played at lukewarm intensity. The new manager had little impact on the affair as he has yet to operate a practice and it certainly showed in the general kick-around / cure for insomnia that was decided with Osvaldo MartÃnez’s goal two minutes in. It is unclear whether this match provides any insight to the tactics Monterrey will deploy but for much of the match they used a very structured 4-5-1, using Humberto Suazo as the lone striker. As this week unfurls we will have a better idea of the look of the Rayados under Mr. Vucetich and they will need to get up to speed fast as they face Puebla next week.
