plans for Los Indios de Juárez, part two
By: j | July 30th, 2008
Further to part one of our preview of this weeks match against Ciudad Juárez we need to look back at the Puebla match, understand the weaknesses and plan to shore them up.
Given this is week one, the analysis is rather easy to make and it was clear the major problem was defensively and poor marking in the box. Communication of the defensive front was poor and in-particular there was a definitive weakness to aerial attacks and set plays. The promise of the new defensive core Joel González, Felipe Baloy, Diego Ordaz and José Basanta had a rough opening week and to “assist” their growth, Ricardo Lavolpe as focused two hours on defensive work in the last two practices. I hate to belabor the fact but this club did not spend significant time in serious training in pre-season and break downs such as this should have been expected. On the opposite side of the equation, the counter-attack tactic is taking greater shape in practice as new-man Gonzalo Choy González continues to adapt into the system and will likely play a greater role this weekend.
