Necaxa match preview
By: j | August 27th, 2008After the Rayados tough 3-2 loss to Cruz Azul they need to get untracked fast and win later tonight against Club Necaxa in Aguascalientes
Monterrey is desperate for points as the hopes of the early season have fallen away and now the hunt is for respectability. This has not looked like a championship club at all and while they have the talent, they need to regroup and put together a string of wins. This must start tonight and they do have a morsel of fortune as Necaxa are without Luis Francisco GarcÃa and Walter Gaytán while they will have Diego Ordaz and Felipe Baloy back from suspension.
Ricardo Lavolpe is still serving suspension, which means the best Football manager in Mexico will be running the attack from the stands. He will need to re-invigorate a resemblance of a defensive front as the Rayados have failed miserably in that regard recently although José MarÃa Basanta has done yeoman duty. Chupete has stunned me this season with his maturation as a striker and I’ll be very honest, I expected a European club to make an significant offer and will be pleased to see the transfer window close. He has stolen the show for the Rayados and will need to be at his best. As you might expect Monterrey will be looking to counter attack but will need to keep an eye toward poacher Hugo Rodallega or he won’t waste a second finding the back of the net.
I will report upon the match after it concludes.
