Chivas defeats Rayados 2-1
By: j | February 1st, 2009
Monterrey’s goal of thirty points in the Clausura took a serious hit as they feel 2-1 to Chivas as the Tecnológico. As the match began, the Rayados showed conviction in the attack and took the lead nineteen minutes in when Humberto Suazo scored from Luis Ernesto Pérez’ provision. The celebration at the Tecnológico didn’t last long as only three minutes later Xavier Baez drove the ball in from outside the box in what must have fooled Monterrey ‘keeper Jonathan Orozco. While the Rayados had a few opportunities to score, creativity and finishing was off and there seemed to be a lack of urgency. Finally with fourteen minutes remaining, Javier Hernández scored to give Chivas the eventual 2-1 victory.
VÃctor Manuel Vucetich will need to go back to tactical planning and find greater attacking venom with the Rayados or they will fall well short of the thirty point goal.
